The mission of the Senior Citizens Ministry shall be to provide opportunity for members 65 years and older to continue to be involve in service, support and fellowship within Springfield Baptist Church.

This ministry shall focus on events and activities that enhance and encourage spiritual, moral, physical and social growth for our seniors.

Our Scripture

Psalm 71:18

"Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to everyone that is to come."

The challenge continues into our sixth year. Since 2008 we have made definite milestones into the vision set forth.

Each third Sunday in August we have celebrated the seniors with uplifting services, certificates of appreciation and awards for work well done. Every year since 2008 we have visited sites that were exhilirating as well as educational. The seniors have participated with growing numbers.

We've visited our seniors who are unable to come to the services. In all our efforts, our pastor has been behind us one hundred percent.

Deacon George Cooper was assigned to us midway of our journey and has been very encouraging  and helpful. He has proven an excellent laison to the pastor for the ministry.

Although the committee consist of three seniors, Betty Smith, chairperson, Lois Hagan, Co-chairperson and Event coordinator Rose Broadnax, God has given us the guidance and strength we need to enjoy every step of the way.

We are encouraging all Springfield Baptist seniors 65 and over to join with us in our ventures as we let God lead us to the more abundant life in being a 'senior saint'.

Check the Senior Ministry's page for constant updates. You may be pleasantly surprised. God bless you and thank you for all your encouragement.
