SUPPORT  GROUP

Comforted to Provide Comfort

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.      _ 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

 Mission Statement

The Bereavement Ministry endeavors to provide hope for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We hope  to be a source of love, comfort, encouragement, and support as the bereaved journeys from mourning to joy.

Bereavement Support

  • We assign caregivers monthly to provide a  listening ear and a caring presence before, during and following the Homegoing Service,
  • We send sympathy and encouragement cards.
  • We pray for and with bereaved families.
  • We disseminate grief-related materials to educate families on grief recovery.
  • We conduct an annual Memorial Service.
  • We conduct a weekly GriefShare Support Group
  • We conduct an annual "Surviving the Holiday" seminar.

When to Join SBC GriefShare Group

You may begin attending the group at any time. Each session is “self-contained,” so you do not have to attend in sequence. No matter when you decide to join us, you will find encouragement, help and a supportive group of people who understand your season of grief.
